While studying international relations, development of various terms such as hard power, soft power, smart power, institutional power, compulsive power, productive power has been defined. However, the concept of power has two dimensions (Finnemore 2009). This includes the kinds of social relations through which the capabilities are affected, and the specificity of the social relations (Berenskoetter and Williams 2007). However, for the social theorists, social relations are viewed as the relations of the interactions among the earlier constituted social actors and the relations of constitution of actors as specific kinds of social beings. The expression of power, whether it is interaction or constitutional, has a major significance. One of the positions of this dimension treats the relations as actions of pre-constituted social actors with each other in the society. In this dimension, the role of power is either through behavioural relations or social interactions (Berenskoetter and Williams 2007). The other dimension consists of the social relations of constitution. In this case, the power works through social relations. However, the constitutional relations cannot be reduced to the actions or interactions, of the actors. According to Barnett and Duvall (2005), power is irreducibly social. The distribution of the power and its display in the international relations are as follows: The first system is the hemonic system in which there is only one dominant power (Finnemore 2009). For example, today the world is under the hegemonic state with the US being sole military power. Moreover, the world also sees US as the economic super power. The second system is power distribution is the bipolarity system where two superpowers dominate their power. For example, the period following the Second World War could be called the period of bipolarity as during this period, there were two major powers which dominated the world, namely United States and Soviet Union (Finnemore 2009). The third kind of power distribution is the multipolarity in which more than two dominant or superpowers exert their power in the world. For example, the situation, following the Peace of Westphalia or the Treaty of Westphalia in the year 1648, was considered to be multipolar (Finnemore 2009). Use of power capabilities The wide variety of the capabilities, which are related to power, is not enough. These capabilities need to be used in order to alter the behavior of other people. Since power has a key role to play, in the international relations, hence the use of power has to be done effectively. The power is dependent on various factors such as the geographical position and location (Barnett and Duvall 2005). Moreover, the acquisition of the natural resources, the population of the country, along with the tangible and intangible resources that are possessed by the nation has a major role to play (Drezner 2009). For example, US is highly developed in technological fields, along with education, healthcare, space research. The countries in the United States are called the first world countries, since they possess power, knowledge as well as natural resources. Thus, the US is often seen as an epitome of power in the international relations. In the modern world, the role of power is seen within a globalized international system. Countries like USA were found to fight alone during the 2003 Iraq invasion. This was done by the display of military measures of power. Globalization is also seen as a US-dominated phenomenon because it is exercising its power positively. The sanction of the international economic sanctions acts as a useful tool to support authoritarian government in exercising international norms (Kahler 2015). Hence, globalization has acted as a source for hegemonic stateies to display economic supremacy by ignoring human rights and other standard norms. Therefore hegemonic countries impose their believe to rest of the world and other cultures struggle with the rules because they are not equipped economically and militarily and they are compelled to agree with the rule. Moreover, using their economic and military capacity to enforce these rules. For example, United Nations Security council, World Bank, IMF are some of the institutions that hold vast power in IR. Since they were created by United States (US) it gives extra advantage to the US over other states and more authority compared to other states. The power capabilities The power capabilities, that establishes a country at the top of the power pyramid includes the military power, political power, economic power as well as the social power. Military capabilities The power, as defined in the international relations often refers to the military power that a nation possesses. The military weapons and armed forces that a country possesses often highlight the power in a country (Barnett and Duvall 2005). The possession of the nuclear power and large standing army is often highlighted as the face of power in the international relations. Economic capabilities Along with the possession of the military capabilities, the economic capabilities also highlight the display of the international power. Economic strength is one of the major strengths that is possessed by a country, in order to be a leader in the international power world (Drezner 2009). Another measurement that highlights the economic capability of a country in the international market is the gross domestic product (GDP) (Dahl 1957). The total market value of all the goods and services that are produced within the country often highlights the economic strength and capabilities of a country, thus giving the country power. Political capabilities A strong political background, with no or less opposition from the other political parties, will ensure the possession of power in the world. Moreover, countries that are politically unstable will not be able to stand up and protect other countries, during periods of crisis. Hence, political stability and strength has a key role to play in the international relations. Thus, it could be concluded that power has a significant role to play in the identification of the state behavior in the international relations. The eventually came in and placed the x-ray on the wall so that I could see and said you’re a very lucky kid. He then went into detail and pointed out where I had a fracture in my neck. He told me that if it were any bigger of a fracture I could have been paralyzed for the rest of my life. I had always taken my life for granted until that moment. During adolescence, I was care free and reckless, not understanding the true value of life as many other teens do. That unfortunate event made me realize how short life is and that it can be taken away so easily. From then on out I have always been grateful for everything given to me, and all of the opportunities I receive. This is an example that anyone can learn from. Because of this accident I changed my ways and became a more thankful person and started appreciating the little things in life. The Romantic Era Of Opera Music Essay The Romantic Era was a period in music in which there was much change during the 1850s to the 1920s in the theory and compositional practice of music. The composers wrote their pieces with more artistic freedom, experimentation, and creativity than the artists of the classical era and this caused the melody to become the more dominant feature in the songs composed. Some popular composers that originated out of this era are: Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert, Frà ©dà ©ric Chopin, and Richard Wagner. For inspiration, many Romantic composers turned to visual arts, poetry, drama and literature, and to nature itself. These influences led composers to express emotion in their music. These changes in the sound of the music came in the form of the increased use of dissonance and the extended use of chromatics. Although Romantic era music contained classical era roots, the instruments used in the Romantic era were changing and brass and woodwind instruments were being improved in the quality of sound, as well as in how they were played. Some Romantic era composers used their compositions to express nationalism by the way of incorporating elements unique to their native cultures, such as folk songs, dances, and legendary histories. Mikhail Glinka is an example of a composer who wrote operas specifically on Russian subjects. Although opera was predominant in Italy, many other European composers were contributing to the changes in the music of their generation, including German composer Richard Wagner. Richard Wagner was born on May 22, 1813 in Leipzig, Germany where he had a difficult childhood. Wagners father died of typhus six months after Richards birth which led his mother Johanna Rosine Wagner, to begin living with the actor and playwright Ludwig Geyer, who had been a friend of Richards father up until his death. Richards mother then proceeded to marry Ludwig Geyer and they moved the family to Dresden. It is here where Wagner started his musical learning. Richard first took interest in his step fathers love for the theatre and performance arts and he played an angel in a play at a local theatre. When he was seven, Wagner was enrolled at Pastor Wetzels school at Possendorf, near Dresden, where he received some piano instruction from his Latin teacher. A year later his stepfather died which led the ei ght year old Wagner to attend the Kreuz Grammar School in Dresden. Although Richard was largely a self taught musician he persuaded his family to allow him to take music lessons. From 1828-1831 Wagner completed his first lessons in composition with Christian Gottlieb Mà ¼ller and by the time he was fifteen he had already written his first play. Wagners focus on drama is one of the reasons his operas really shined as being different than operas of the classical era. He enrolled at the University of Leipzig in 1831 where Wagner further took composition lessons from Christian Theodor Weinlig who refused to let Richard pay for the lessons he was giving him. Weinlig was so impressed with Wagners talents that he arranged for one of Wagners piano works to be published. Wagner continued his studies in music and he completed his first opera when he was twenty years old called Die Feen. This opera would not be produced until half a century later when it was premiered in Munich shortly after his death in 1883. Around the time he wrote his first opera, Wagner married the actress Minna Planer, who he moved to Riga with where he became the music director of the local opera house. His relationship with his wife was a troubled one in that she left him once for another man, but came back to him before they moved to Paris due to fleeing from tremendous debt. In 1862 he returned to Germany, where he moved in with Ludwig II. After the success of his opera, Tristan und Isolde, he decided to do more traveling around Europe where he created such classics as Siegfried and Gà ¶tterdà ¤mmerung. Towards the end of his life Wagner decided to settle in Italy where wrote his final opera, Parsifal. Parsifal was first preformed at the Bayreuth festival which occurred at the opera house in which Wagner himself funded. After the second Bayreuth festival the Wagners decided to take a trip to Venice in the winter of 1883. It is here where Richard Wagner passed away due to a heart attack. In his long musical career Wagner created thirteen operas including the most notable Rienzi, Der fliegende Hollà ¤nde, Tristan und Isolde, and Der Ring des Nibelungen. It was clear that Wagner was changing the way operas were being preformed, and he continued to push the music further into the Romantic era by viewing operas as total art works.

The story of the founding of the United States is a story nearly every United States citizen understands at the very least a rough version of. The story of how a group of patriots overthrew standing British power who were invading their rights to privacy, taxing them unfairly, and overall not giving the colonials a square deal. This story gives American’s pride in their identity and government. It also serves to legitimize the current US Government, for the current officials follow the same Constitution set up by those Patriots who fought the British. However, since the founding of the US Government there have been numerous cases in which the government has betrayed its people and committed corruption. When the media finds out about such a corrupt act, generally a scapegoat bears the entirety of the blame. In this paper I will argue that this is wrong, and in reality corruption occurs on several different levels and is carried out by multiple people. One of the examples of US government corruption that had a major impact on the American people is often overlooked. Fred Hampton, a leader in the Black Panther Party during the late 1960’s was deliberately and brutally murdered by the US government on December 4, 1969. This act not only infringed on his rights in the worst possible way, it also had an immeasurable impact on the progress of African Americans in American society. Hampton was a rising leader within the the Civil Rights Movement, and at the young age of 22 had a lot of potential. In his story, Before the Law, Franz Kafka suggests that obstacles that one faces in life can either be used to mold one’s success or bring about one’s failure. It is the doorkeeper in this parable that keeps the man from gaining access to the law, and his inability to pass this doorkeeper that leads to his demise. It is important to realize that the man strives to reach â€Å"the law†, however he winds up getting only as far as the doorkeeper. A question arises here, what would have happened if the man was able to overcome the doorkeeper and enter the gate? The doorkeeper himself somewhat provides an answer to this question when he warns the man that he is â€Å"only the least of the doorkeepers. From hall to hall there is one doorkeeper after the other, each more powerful than the last. The third doorkeeper is already so terrible that even I cannot bear to look at him.† Of course these are difficulties that the man from the country has not expected, and instead of taking his chances, the doorkeeper gives him a stool and lets him sit down at one side of the gate. The man failed to realize that even if there were another doorkeeper behind the first door, he would have been able to face him with the experience and knowledge gained by overcoming the initial doorkeeper. Why was the man so foolish to just sit there and let his life pass him by? This concept of attaining knowledge applies not only to the man from the country but also to every in ordinary life. By the man not overcoming one of the challenges in his life, he was not able to strive and succeed in meeting the goals that he has set forth for himself. When one overcomes their challenges, the knowledge that they hav e gained from that experience merely provides them with necessary tools to face a more difficult situation. Overcoming all of these situations or challenges is like climbing a mountain towards excellence and achievement of ones goals. A prime example of trying to overcome challenges in every day life in order to  succeed is myself. I am a first year college student who is on the rocky road towards success. I am continually meeting one challenge after the next, striving to achieve every one of the goals I have set for myself. From elementary to high school and now to college, I am using the things I have learned, the tools I need in order to meet the next and more difficult challenge in my life. Unfortunately, the man accepts the stool that the doorkeeper offers him where â€Å"he sits for days and years.† The man never gains any sort of stature, for he looses out on all of the potential growth he could have gained by standing up to the doorkeeper. Why didn’t he stand up? What made him so weak that the doorkeeper was able to take such advantage of him? All of these questions are now brought into the picture because of the man’s stupidity in just giving up not only with the doorkeeper but also with himself. Before the man realizes that he has reached a state where he is looked down upon, and questions asked of him â€Å"are put indifferent, as great lords put them.† Unaware of the hole that he has dug for himself, the man eventually loses total sight of his original goal of reaching â€Å"the law,† and the man fixes his attention almost continuously on the doorkeeper. He even reaches the point of begging the fleas on the doorkeeper’s coat to grant him access to â€Å"the law† if the man were to only realize from the beginning that the gate was placed there for his own personal self-development. The lessons he could have learned by pushing beyond the initial doorkeeper would have more than likely built him into a totally new person, with unique talents and insights gained from his experience. Instead he gives up on himself, he grows old and never reaches any of his goals, and he never achieves his aspiration. The doorkeeper then finally points out, that â€Å"no one else could be admitted here, since the gate was made only for you. I am now going to shut it.† This closing of the gate was the end to everything the man wanted, all of his hopes and dreams have now been shut behind a door and are now irretrievable. The author gives us a sense of sorrow towards the old man for not being able to achieve his wants and desires. Instead, we learn a valuable lesson in the story about the life one leads. One must be prepared to face the challenges that life present. If one is able to overcome their challenges, they will grow from their experience and form their own unique personality. If one cannot overcome their obstacles, they may spend their life stuck in a rut of complacency,  never achieving any goals or dreams that they once had. The poor old man from the country had to learn this important lesson out for himself.

Sethe has a very complicated relationship with herself. Sethe is the character that is not able to forget the trauma of the times when she was a slave and fearing that her children might not fall into the same fate, prefers to even kill them. The central theme is that Sethe is in search of her own identity and Morrison also tries to show the cruelty and disturbing consequences of slavery that existed even after they were not slaves. The ex-slaves also feel inferior to the white people and when Denver walks out of her home to find a job and finally she finds her identity. Sethe is lacking this throughout and keeps herself isolated and only plays the role of a mother. ‘Those white things have taken all I had dreamed’, she said, ‘and broke my heartstrings too. There is no bad luck in the world but white folks. ’ (Beloved, Chapter 9, Page 89) Sethe kills her baby girl so that she is not physically, spiritually or emotionally oppressed by the masters or whites of that time. Sethe suffers the guilt of her this particular act and when the first time ghost of Beloved comes in her house she gets extremely terrified and wants it to go away at any cost. But the second time, Sethe allows Beloved’s ghost to destroy her house and digests her anger at even the cost of her relationships just because she thinks that this way she can calm down her daughter’s ghost. Beloved seems to be interested in Sethe and she listens to her and this satisfies Sethe too. Sethe has faced the dark and gloomy days of slavery and the whole life she tries to protect her children from getting into that life. Sethe’s unique interactions with Beloved, her incarnated daughter reveals a completely different picture. She struggles with herself and her emotions and most of the time she is lonely. She trusts very few people and has cut herself socially, especially from the black people. She identifies herself as a different person in different stages of her life. Sethe’s relationship with Beloved takes a different shape and helps her recover from the physical and mental trauma of slavery. The use of symbolism and allusions refer only to the confused and suffered state of mind of Sethe. Beloved has many grievances and thinks that her mother abandoned her whereas Sethe is unable to explain her daughter why it was better to die that to live in such traumatic situations. At these stages Sethe seems to be helpless and becomes more and more self-centered. She feels sometimes that she had no right to kill her daughter but the love and respect she had for her children forced her to do so. Her dreams for her children and their future were definitely not to live like slaves and she did what the moment forced her mind to do. Her motherly emotions are different from a general mother and she is seen very much possessive about her children too. She says, â€Å"[A]nybody white could take your whole self for anything that came to mind. Not just work, kill or maim you, but dirty you. Dirty you so bad you couldn’t like yourself anymore. And though she and others lived through and got over it, she could never let it happen to her own. The best things she was, was her children. How to Create an Effective Book Publicity Plan Creating an Effective and Timely Book Publicity Plan Publicity is a commonly misunderstood side of book marketing - it's often assumed that a publicists job is to get reviews and interviews. But this is just the tip of your book publicity plan - there is so much more a book's launch team needs to do, according to this new post from publicist Coleen Hatrick.Self-publishing is a ton of work –   getting the manuscript written, copyedited, revisions, choosing text layout, and the cover design all come first. Consequently, for many first-time authors – publicity, and marketing become afterthoughts. It is well-nigh impossible to get decent attention for your book if you start the PR campaign after publication.Timing is everything to run a successful PR campaign. Don’t forget to include links to the content related to this book.Finalize interview dates.  Local radio and papers will book interviews at this stage, or sometimes closer to their publication date. If your publicist has been in contact with them before, they should confirm that they’re on the case.Host a cover reveal.  You can do this yourself on your website, Facebook, Twitter or work with a blog. Think about which will have the biggest reach.Leak short extracts from the book on Twitter or InstagramActivate your network!  Get the word out to your contacts, friends, and colleague networks. A publicist should be able to access your social media accounts or you can agree/author content and frequency/schedule together. It can be daunting to involve these connections, but that’s what the launch party is for.Take pictures at your party. Encourage attendees to share the joy and decide on a #hashtag to use. Bring copies of your books and little postcards advertising it. And remember to have a blast!Publication week and beyondShow-off on social media!  Share pictures of the physical book. Keep your followers updated with great quotes, mentions, compliments and likes. Post any media coverage you’ve received and remember to tag the outlet (which can get them to repost).Set up a Google alert.  Use the book title  and your name. Additionally, you may set a separate alert on the main subject/topic in order to tie in or offer comment to related trending news.Sign up to HARO (Help a Reporter Out). A free media sourcing service where report er's request stories linked to what they are working on. The requests come in twice a day. Prepare for your inbox to fill-up.Share your media hits.  Media hits beget more media. The right story can get picked up overnight, and some go viral. Add a ‘praise’ sheet to your media kit, and update your website  and Amazon page.Set up an online QA session on Twitter QA or Facebook QAGo local.  Your publicist can pitch for local radio interviews, and local TV now. Shape your talking points to the particular outlet. It really helps to be familiar with the programmes.Freebies.  Some blogs and some local radio outlets love having prizes to offer their audience.Events.  This is an effective way to keep connecting with your future readers and can be spread out over the ensuing year.We hope this timetable is beneficial and clarifies why it is important to start the publicity and marketing process early. There is room for creativity and imagination in promoting your work.
